Heartbreak, Loss, & Picking Up The Pieces

Heartbreak is one of the most painful things you can experience. It's not like something you can physically see, put a bandaid on it and move on.
The pain consumes you to the point where it feels like your heart has just been ripped out of your chest.
You feel like you can't breathe.
You don't want to eat.
You just want to sit and cry until you've exhausted all the tears in your entire body.
And having to socialize with people makes it even worse.
So, you just lay in your bed, avoid everything, and hope that the pain will go magically go away.
It doesn't.

The Unpublished Posts: How To Lose A Girl

I'd like to thank all of the individuals who have inspired this post.

This is probably going to be the most candid post I have written on this blog. You and I both know this isn't a topic to take lightly for us girls who have dealt with loads of BS from boys.

I've halted on writing about the specificities of my own experiences with the male population for my reasons of course. But I don't think that would be fair to other girls out there.

I write from my personal experience and having dealt with all of this first hand.

You might be asking: why are you doing this?
Is this just a personal written vendetta for all the boys who hurt you?
Maybe.
But here are the real reasons:

Because crying uncontrollably in your car, at night, or even at the thought of a guy who broke your heart just hurts.
Because being hurt by a clueless boy shouldn't feel like getting your heart ripped out of your chest.
Because second guessing yourself over a guy shouldn't ever happen.
Because falling for someone who is in love with someone else is painful.
Because waiting for a text message and over thinking everything said shouldn't be something you should get used to.
Because giving yourself to a guy who doesn't value you is not okay.
Because thinking that a guy will change when he won't isn't fair.
Because being taken advantage of and manipulated is ridiculous.
Because holding onto promises that will never be kept is just heartbreaking.
Because spending your precious time with a guy who intends to have no future with you is not cool.
Because allowing a guy who isn't committed to you to mess with your feelings is deplorable.
Because having to explain to your parents about a guy they will never meet but constantly see you get hurt over is just stupid.
And because mascara is way too expensive to waste it on a boy that will only ruin your expectations of other men.

Every girl at one point or another will come across this type of guy.
Maybe you are even dealing with this guy right now.
Well darling, let's shed some light on this type of guy.

Have you ever heard had a boy (and I use the term boy correctly because a mature male would be considered a man) just do you so wrong, you question how you even allowed that?
You managed to fall for a guy that seemed like he had everything you wanted.

He's cute. He's sweet. He says all the right things.

And then you realize something just doesn't seem to add up.

You justify your feelings and his actions. It's okay that he cancels plans all the time. We're far apart and in college and too young so it won't work for now. It's okay for now, you'll say. I'm okay with us not being official. Maybe it's better this way. We'll take things "slow". We can't be together because of this or that so I'm happy with what we have. It's supposed to be like this for now and everything will get better. I'll be the only one. I'll be his. We'll be together.

Wrong.

You know that common term in a female's vocabulary known as the F-boy?
We'll I'm sure you've encountered this species before.

They are the experts of sweet talking.
Want to be called gorgeous, beautiful, sexy, and all of its counterparts? They'll call you that.
Want someone to constantly text you, "What you are doing?". They've got it down.
Love spontaneity? They'll be spontaneous for sure.
Need an excuse? They can come up with a billion in under 60 seconds.

How are they the experts of sweet talking?
Because they have done it to a bunch of girls and your are one of the many in his text message list.

Oh, what about those confident boosting names?
That's just so they don't get your name confused with all the other girls they are talking to.

The classic: "What are you doing?"
This is not to ask about how you are or if you had a good day. Oh no. That would be asking too much. That's an easy gateway to start a convo that feeds their imaginative minds at night. Seriously boys, GTFO.

Spontaneous? Oh, they definitely are spontaneous. They cancel plans on the spot to avoid either seeing you or planning things because doing so would see like they care.

Excuses? If you ever need one, just ask one of them. They've got plenty.
Why can't you go out, spend time together, come over for dinner, or maybe go to a movie? Because his mom's sister's aunt's god mother's cat died. Or he's super super busy (doing nothing) and just can't go. Or my favorite: because he's in a different country and incapable of finding any cellular towers or wifi connection and can only email to explain all this to cancel plans and seeing you when he's really been dating another girl for months.
Why can't you make anything official? Oh, we just can't be together right now because "I'm not emotionally ready", "I'm not looking for a girlfriend right now", "I just got out of a relationship", or I like "what we have" (which is nothing).

And yes, the whole emailing pretending to be in a different country story is true.

I'm laughing just thinking of the idiocy of it.

Let me make this clear.

Guys are not all like this.

That's the mistake we all make. We project what another guy has done to us to a guy who is actually trying to show you they care.

They actually care about you. They aren't just interested in getting the one thing you can give them. They actually want you.

Once you've encountered this type of individual, it's hard to even think about how you tolerated what other boys did. You have to learn to let go and it's hard. I'll admit, I constantly think of how things can go wrong and expect the worst. Why? Because that's what I was used to.

Just know this: a guy who really like you and I mean really likes you, wouldn't do any of this crap.

They wouldn't leave you second guessing a single text or trying to decipher every word. They are clear about how they feel about you.

They would actually appreciate your time. Time is something you never get back and they know that. They don't tell you spitefully last minute that they can't do something because something else is more important than you.

You are a priority. You are not just something they talk to or pay attention to when they are bored.

Some of us will have to go through a couple of these boys to find the right one or maybe you'll encounter an amazing guy at one shot.

Obviously all guys aren't perfect and trust me they do stupid things that we don't like. They don't think the way do. That's just how it is. And obviously we are not perfect beings either.

If you are dealing with this at the current moment, it's time to let go and steer clear from this type of tom foolery. Yes, I just said tom foolery and never imagined a word from my high school English class would fit but it is more than appropriate at this moment.

Throw on some Taylor Swift and dance around your room. Cry. Just do whatever you need to do to toss that kid to the side.

Trust me, they'll come back once they realize that they missed out on someone great. Someone worthwhile.

Keep your head high and remember that you deserve so much more darling.

Time is so important so don't spend it on someone who doesn't care about spending it on you.

Find the one who makes you happy and leaves a never ending smile on your beautiful face for all of the right reasons.

The Hopeless Romantic Syndrome

Juliette's Wall | Verona, Italy

The Hopeless Romantic Syndrome. I know I have it. Do you?

Let's see...

Do you find yourself day dreaming about your wedding or future husband more often than actually paying attention to what you're supposed to be doing...like driving?

If you have time alone, maybe at a park, your eyes always glance to the couples or families?

Does Taylor Swift speak to your soul?

Netflix knows that your favorite movie category is Romance. Always.

Twitter is a never ending place to tweet quotes and all the things you wish were going on in your love life.

Your Instagram feed is picture-picture-selfie-love quote that has something to do with your love life-picture.

You have a Pinterest board dedicated to your proposal, #ringgoals, wedding, wedding dress, and future family.

When it comes to love, you are always torn between acting like you don't care but always end up caring too much anyway.

You have watched the Fault in Our Stars over 5 times. And cry every time.

The Notebook is in your Top 5 favorite movies.

You feel like no one understands you because you like to dream about a different kind of love than what you see today.

You have some old fashion beliefs -- courting, dates, phone calls over texts, and so forth.

Now, this isn't to say being a hopeless romantic is well...hopeless. I, like you, believe in a different kind of love. In some way or another, I think we share different ideals and souls than most. We are a rarity. You don't want to settle for the ordinary kind of love. You want that suffocating-can't live without-until the end-kind of love. And I believe like you probably do, that it's definitely out there.

I think everyone is a bit of a hopeless romantic but they have definitely have suppressed it for the same reason we find being a hopeless romantic so hopeless -- love stinks.

I mean it doesn't stink. It's just hard. It hurts and it's not easy to find. In return, you end up believing that it's not out there or that it's all just gonna go bad anyway.

I'd like to change the idea of being a hopeless romantic. How about just a romantic?

I am for sure not a girl who believes that fairytales are like real and I need to be saved. No thanks. But do I believe there's a version of Prince Charming out there? Heck yea. He will definitely have his flaws but will save you in different ways.

Maybe he'll rescue you from all those negative thoughts you've always had about men. Maybe he'll save you from sadness or pain. Who knows?

I find myself day dreaming literally all the time. Especially if I like someone. Like, it's baddd.

My thoughts:
- We'll get married in a cathedral and oh all the beautiful flowers and it will be full of our families and friends.
-Who will I bring to my dress fitting? Like everyone or like just my mom?
-All my bridesmaids will wear a beautiful light blush color...
-Or maybe like a yellow...ew no, not yellow. Will he even like the color yellow?
-I hope we travel the world together.
-Omg a dinner in Paris. So cute.
-What will I wear? Totes something Instagram worthy. Like duh.
-Oh look an old couple, ugh, I want that.
-I hope we look cute when we're old.

Please tell me I'm not the only one...

Like goals and ambitions, doing that keeps my hope alive and also the idea that it can be real.
It makes me believe that it's possible because I know it is.

So for all you romantics out there. Keep on day dreaming. Dreams come true one way or another :)

All About Romance: The List

Juliet's Wall in Verona

Prepare for a boatload of posts dedicated to the power of positivity and taking hold of your life. I am thankful to have a wonderful and amazing mother who does a good job at not only driving me nuts but also motivating to be my best. I honestly believe she drives me so nuts. I think we tend to argue so much because we are so alike. She knows what she wants in life and works to do exactly that. With a momma like that, I am very blessed. If there is one thing my mother continuously tells me, it’s to “Claim what you want". She’s right. My mom has always told me you can design your life. I highly believe that because if that weren’t the case, I would not be where I am right now.

This idea should not only work in your life but also in what you want to find in a significant other. If you have no idea what you want or honestly deserve than you will settle for whatever comes. That's a fact.
Some girls like myself have a “list” or things that they must have in a guy they are seeing or dating or plan on marrying one day. My list isn’t like “he has to have green eyes!”. Like, sure they are nice and beautiful and my children will be gorgeous but that doesn’t make it or break it for me. That’s not what my list is for. My list comprises of traits, desires, and very few physical attributes of what I want in my significant other.

This isn’t to be superficial or picky. This determines who you want in your life. What you want in the person you plan on sharing your life with. Who you want to wake up to every morning. Because of that, everyone should know what they want in that person. They are not perfect and aren't going to be. Neither are you. But you have the ability and opportunity to pick who that person is or will be. This list serves as a guide: a guide to the amazing person waiting for you somewhere in this world.

Since I am nothing short of personal on my blog, I am going to share mine.
I wrote this after sobbing on the phone with my mom over another boy who broke my heart. I wrote this last summer and have not touched it since. I thought my mother was crazy but I listened since that’s all I could do as I sobbed and claimed I would never like another male again. Such a lie LOL.
I opened up my computer and just started writing in my notes section. As I wrote, I literally became excited just thinking about who the individual will end up being.

Looking back now, I am so thankful I did. My mom blatantly told me to write a list of all the things I want in this "man" that I see myself with in the future. Doing so, I would not only start seeing what I wanted but also somehow attract it.

What I Want in My Significant Other

I want him to be assertive, ambitious, super affectionate, caring, spiritual.
I want him to have a good head on his shoulders, goals, aspirations, and hobbies.
I want him to want to be his best.
I want him to be funny. A guy that can make me laugh on a bad day.
I want him to be athletic and active. I want him to care about his health and physical appearance.
I want him to strive for greatness. I want him to be ambitious and successful.
I want him to be smart and to teach me things I don’t know.
I want him to challenge me in a good way.
I want him to take me out of comfort zone and help me grow as a person.
I want him to be kind and caring.
I want him to be a family person and can hang out and be goofy and have a good time.
I want him to be outgoing and not afraid.
I want him to be protective and proud of me.
I want him to push me to be better and do better.
I want him to be passionate and sexy.
I want him to crave me in all ways.
I want him to surprise me and shock me in the best ways possible.
I want him to check up on me throughout my day and see how I’m doing.
I want him to know every aspect of me and learn to love me.
I want him to be loyal.
I want him to be always there when I need him.
I want him to be my best friend.
I want him to be a role model.
I want him to care about tradition and respect me.
I want him to want a beautiful marriage and a family.
I want him to be spontaneous and want to do extraordinary things.
I want him to travel and want to explore.

Let’s be clear. This does not make me a picky individual. If you think so, you need to change up your thinking and start claiming what you want in life. So, now I’m asking you: what do you want in your partner and significant other? Who do you want to be with, share your life with, or even marry?

I challenge you to make your list. Feel like sharing? Leave a comment or send away on Twitter, Insta, or email! I’d love to read them <3

Stay positive darlings.

Fashion Meets Romance: Spring Date Outfits + Date Ideas

Springtime is officially here! Although I have been spoiled with great weather since my arrival in Europe, Spring weather is amongst us. So darlings, what is blooming in your love life?
If your currently dating or thinking about going after the cute guy you've been eyeing and need a date ideas and outfits, Kim is here to the rescue. With warmer weather, it's time to bring out the brights, dresses, and lose those heavy layers.
I've always wanted to go on a date in the Spring and dress for the occasion.
So in honor of Spring and your love life, here are some outfits options for your next Spring date <3

Spring Date Outfit #1

If I could live in dresses for all eternity, I would. I love the boldness of this color and it is totally and ode to Spring.

Date Options:
Picnic in the Park (yummy treats and the sun? yes.)
Ice Cream Date
Mini Golfing
Visit somewhere new and explore
Spring Concert

Spring Date Outfit #2

This outfit is a little bit more than jeans and a t-shirt (which you wouldn't catch me in on any date). The lightness of colors are a gentle reminder of the new season. The jacket and boots make a cute statement and also keep your feet and shoulders warm. Add a pop of color with some red lips and keep your hair slicked back in a ponytail or bun and voila you are good to go!

Date Options:
Stroll in the Park
Shopping Day
Lunch or Brunch
Museum

Spring Date Outfit #3

How to make your date keep his eyes on you? Stilettos and a nice pair of dark wash jeans will do the trick. I love the feeling of wearing heels. A great boost literally since I'm of a short but average height. The soft blush pink with the pop of color on your feet will definitely make a sassy statement.

Date Options:
Dinner & A Movie
Out for Drinks
Party

What are you going to wear on your next date?
Show me some love by liking, commenting, or sharing this post!

Good luck on your date <3

Adventures in Verona

I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Verona and explore the home of Juliet's House and wall of love letters.
Since the hopeless romantic in me as we all know is extreme, I had to visit this beautiful city.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day and pretty hot for a person who decided to go for all black that day.

The sun was shining and the streets were pretty packed with tourists. I managed to visit everything I wanted. My favorite? Juliet's House of course.
According to various sources, "Juliet's House" was owned by a family with the last name Cappello. The last name does not differ greatly from Capulet, as we all know is Juliet's last name. The family saw an opportunity to use this property as a tourist site and thus Juliet's House was created. In addition, any romantic can send a letter to Juliet and receive a response from a committee of "Juliets" as seen in the movie Letters to Juliet. I had every intention of placing mine on the wall like in the movie. Amanda Seyfried and Lizzie McGuire have seriously encouraged too much with their characters and obviously a girly romantic like me.

Kim the Klutz came out unscathed from the steep steps of the Coliseum and cobblestone. I didn't need any other embarrassing moments to occur since that's a daily occurrence for me as it is.

The excerpt from Shakespeare's romantic tragedy was on the wall below the balcony. Thankfully I didn't see anyone reciting this because I probably would have taken a piece of gum from the wall and threw it at them. Girls were already taking up space on the balcony to act as Juliet. Like no.

The wall next to Juliet's statue and balcony is completely covered in gum and various notes from lovers and romantics from all over the world. It is now illegal to stick notes and the sort to this wall because it has damaged the construction of it. If you do have the urge to do so, a nice hefty 500 euro fine will be handed to you. So no go on the sticking a note on the wall. I was absolutely fascinated by the amount of people in that one area. This is one of the most romantic cities in the world for good reason.

The market and clock tower

This Gorgonzola pizza was just..yas. And of course, I had no shame of eating an entire pizza irregardless of who my cute date was. Thankfully, he understands that I have a love affair with pizza and wine ;) Men must understand to never get in the way of my love affair with pizza and wine and they are good in my book or any girl's for that matter.

After this trip to the beautiful city of Verona, I realized two things: people really like touching Juliet's boob (all for good luck) and well, romance really isn't dead after all :)

How To Survive Your First Date + My First Date Experience

Omg. You are going on your first date with the guy you've been totally crushing on.
You are already day dreaming about the date. How will it go? Is this the story you are going to tell everyone at your engagement party?!
I am the Queen of questioning, overthinking, and over planning. So fear not, everything will be just fine! So before you start planning this elaborate wedding with the love of your life, let's get through this date!

If my life were in 80's movie or a totally clichéd rom-com, I'd want my first date or any for that matter to be full of romance, flowers, and a kiss in the moonlight.

What was my first date like?
Well, my first date ever definitely wasn't the best I ever had that's for sure.
It was my Freshman year of college and my love life commenced once I moved out of my small town and entered college.
Although the guy turned out to be a complete jerk who was dating someone else and lied about it in the end and so much more drama (clearly, I hold no resentment), my first date was fun, casual, and totally not worth the stress and freak outs.

He picked me up. We went to play pool which I totally stink at. Then, we went out to eat. Conversation, flirting, blushing. Looking back at it, it was definitely a great learning experience.
For me, the most nerve-wracking part of the experience was what to do at the end of the date.
Do you kiss? What does that stare mean? Did he have fun? Did you have fun? Omg, does my breath smell? Do you text him after? Does he text you after?
WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN?!

I totally did not kiss this guy (thank you Jesus) but just casually ended the date with a "I had a great time, and I'll see you in class". I was completely smitten after it and had a blast but that ended as soon as I realized how much of a jerk he was.
K. I'm done, I swear.

So, for you lovely darlings going on a date, I only hope for a fabulous night and a better ending than mine!
Here are the answers to your most troubling questions before going out on your date!

Where will you go?

Unless your date has established it will be a surprise, definitely determine the location so you can plan your outfit. Don't be nervous, just ask! A simple, "what's the dress code?" will end your worries. Wherever it may be, make sure to just have fun!

What do I wear?

I'd love to do a more detailed post on outfit options, but my best recommendation: anything comfortable and cute! Don't go heavy on the makeup or your outfit. If you're like me, you're going to be super nervous, the last thing you need to do is worry about your fake eyelash falling out, falling on your face from not knowing how to walk in heels, and so forth. This person is lucky to be going out on a date with you, trust me the last thing they will be focusing on is if you blended your eyeshadow correctly. But do blend, girl.

What about the kiss? Will there be one? Should I make a move?

I'm all for assertiveness and if you like something go for it. Coming from a girl who didn't do this on my first date, I can't help you completely in that department. But if you don't, it definitely doesn't make or break the whole date. If things went well, trust me, you will know if kissing is going to happen. Either you or him will totally make the move. Go with your gut and do what you feel comfortable with.
Not sure if you should? Don't do it. Maybe it will happen on your second date!
Nevertheless, my favorite quote could also give you an answer...
"A girl worth kissing is not easily kissed".

Have any more questions or tips? Comment below :)

Until next time,

The Dating Diaries

As a young woman, it's quite common to have an active dating life. Right?
Ok, maybe not.

If so, I'm far from that group. More like on an island. An isolated one. Like completely uninhabited.

So, let's talk about dating. Have you been on dates? Dated multiple people? What is dating to you?

I find the whole concept of it quite interesting.
It's like, "Hi, I kinda like you so let's see if this turns into something after a couple of hours of talking and hopefully fun and not boring conversation and not me running into the bathroom and escaping".
When you really think about it, dates are kinda of like interviews.
For that person you want to be with.
I can't see myself taking time out to be entertained by someone who I frankly don't see any potential in.
Like why?
Dating is a very common thing nowadays and I definitely see how exciting it can be.
Meet new people. Try new things. Have fun!
But to me, you are searching for the right "date".
The one who then ends up next to you on your Save The Dates.
For right now, I'd like to say I am definitely dating.
This person is quite marvelous and makes time for me even with a busy schedule.
Want to know who it is?

Me, myself, and I.

I think focusing and making yourself a priority will do you good.
For now, I'd say I am working on my relationship with myself until a guy who sweeps me off my feet comes along.
I'll be on a plane in a couple of months and totally ready to be whisked away by my soon to be lovers: Tuscany, Paris, pasta, and wine.
As they always say, the right guy will come along when you aren't looking for him and when you are ready.

If you are single like me, make the best of it. In the end, you always have yourself.
Treat yourself to some shopping, traveling, spending time with your friends, and just enjoying your singleness.

Channeling Noah

Prepare for the sappiness and for what goes on in a romantic's mind.

Just like Noah in The Notebook, you somehow have to keep your optimism alive.
I'm not saying write a letter for the next 365 days or build a house in hopes of getting Allie to come back to you but you get my drift.

About a year ago, I walked into my local Walmart with one intention: I am going to buy him a gift.
For whom you may ask? I don't know yet. Soon enough.

I don't remember where I heard this or learned about it but it intrigued me enough to actually do it.
Write love letters to your future husband.
I'm sorry, what? Why on earth would I do that? Are you delusional? That was my reaction.

So, I came out of Walmart with a journal. A gift for a someone with no exact date.
A gift ready to be filled with my thoughts to the man who miraculously decided to marry me.
Stubborn, feisty, ambitious, scared to open up, and sometimes mindless me.
Bless his soul.

So how do you keep the bad days away or keep your very shaky optimism when you're surrounded by constant negativity and thoughts about relationships?

I believe that one day I'll find the right guy for me and have a happy marriage.

I don't buy into the whole marriages all end in divorce, people always cheat, and so forth.

Realities like that do exist and happen everyday but focusing on that won't do you or I any good.

Why not believe that it will be great? That the right guy for you is out there?
He will cherish you and those horrible situations won't happen? If they do, you'll overcome it?

I can assure you it won't be perfect. Hell, it will be far from perfect. What in this world is?
I know it will be worth it. A love worth waiting and fighting for.

Well, I found a very personal way to do this: all by writing love letters. Channeling my inner Noah.

Call me crazy but it actually helps.
Yes, it may seem pretty strange considering I do not know who I am really writing to.
Not just yet.

Love letters to my future husband. Is that weird? I don't think so anymore.
Why not share your life before you start another with this person?
It's like having a best friend except you just haven't met them yet. Or maybe we have.
Timing is just a bit off. Or very.

If you have, they will definitely be at a different place when they read your deep, sincere 2AM thoughts or relationship struggles when you give them that journal.

If you haven't, they will get to learn who you were before they decided to spend the rest of their life with you.

So I thought I'd share some of my first entry and I sincerely suggest you give it a try.

Dear love,

I don't really know how to start this. Maybe I'll explain as to why first? I will write here when I need someone to talk to and share my thoughts with. These entries allow me to hope that we meet, hope that you are well, and coming sometime in the near future. I like to talk a lot, but I'm sure by the time you read this you'll already know that already. This is a present from me to you. One that I will give you before our wedding. The beginning of our what I know will be an amazing marriage. I hope that these entries will show you how much I care about you without even knowing who you are.

Until next time,
Your Kim

Don't ever lose that glimmer of hope or faith.
No matter how hard it gets, hold onto it.
We can't rush something we want to last forever.

Dear Heartbreakers,

This is inspired by the girls who never got a chance to speak their mind and from a hard place that some of us have been in before....

You don't owe some of us anything. We get that. We thought you did.

We trusted you. At least we thought we could trust you. We didn't know you had another plan. One different than the one you promised. We went into this thinking the best. We hoped for the best. We hoped you had listened. We don't know why we opened ourselves up so much.

Sorry for believing things could be different.

For wanting to protect ours hearts once more.
For thinking maybe just maybe things could work.
For wanting to make it work. For wanting you to want us.
For wanting to show you it could be different with us.
For wanting to make you happy.
For caring about you.
For loving you.

Granted, you may have history and feelings with others. We thought we could show you something different. Be something different.

We can't compete with that and frankly, we shouldn't have to.

Hurt more than ever before because we thought we knew the person we were getting involved with. We didn't think you would leave, lie, or fool us.
We didn't think it would happen all over again. Or worse.
We can't give you what you want and that's clear. It's like déjà vu all over again.

We are some form of entertainment: an amateur act, an opening act, a piece of side entertainment that is only temporary.

Some of us are just there until you get exactly what you want.

You entertain us because maybe you feel bad.

Maybe you think you could help us.
Feel that we need attention or crave it because it's nonexistent at the moment.

To you, we aren't good enough for your full attention.

You probably didn't mean to hurt us but you sure as hell did.

A lot. A lot more than you can ever imagine. A lot more than you'll ever know.

We are used to it. The pain never goes away but it gets better slowly.

You said things, we said things.

It all comes down to actions. Actions that were never taken and promises that were never kept.

We thought we could try or attempt to see what could happen but we never got to see that chance.

We weren't good enough for that.

We deserve someone who gives a shit about us and what we want.

Someone who will make us forget any pain from before.

Someone who cares enough to make time for us.

Time we will forever treasure in our hearts.

We're like a mirror. Bright, shiny, and catch your attention once you take a glimpse.

The mirror looks nice and works great although it may have been damaged before.

But you don't know that. It's working fine, right?

You threw something at it just like the others.

A piece fell off that will never fit in it correctly again.

You took a piece out with your bare, unforgiving hand.

It's broken, open, and incapable of being completely fixed.

It can only be patched up to look like new.

A piece that's gone just like the others. Replaced but never the same.

The butterflies are all dead and we can feel the emptiness inside.

The dead wings that were once alive and fluttering.

Sorry for being too honest.

Sorry for trusting you so much.

Sorry for getting too excited.

Sorry for caring so much.

Sorry for thinking you cared about us when you really didn't.

That's just what we do. Guess what? That's just what we will continue to do.

Our hearts may have been broken, stepped on, shattered and somehow, we still manage to make them work.

We hope in some near or distant future we find someone that gives us some of the joy, happiness, and excitement you gave us, even if it was just temporary.

We hope you are happy and we are mature enough to wish you the best with whomever you chose to invest your time, attention, and love in.

In the end, we both deserve to be happy even if it's not the way we wanted it to be.

Even if it's not with us.

Sincerely,

The girls you lead on and left in the dust

The girls who cried in the shower until the tears and water streaming down our faces became one

The girls who cried themselves to sleep and couldn't breathe from the hurt and emptiness

The girls who couldn't sleep this time because they were questioning everything and not because you were keeping us up from late night conversation

The girls who wanted more than what they got

The girls who will struggle to trust the next guy ever again

The girls who gave it all

The girls with a broken heart

Crushes, Heartbreak, and Learning about Love

Read their love story here

You're walking down the block and you spot them.
An elderly couple holding hands, laughing like the teenagers they once were.

I'm always in awe of how love can remain that strong after so many years.
How do they do it? How do you get to that point?

I can't even manage to get an actual date or encounter a true gentleman (apologies to the ones who actually are) nowadays, let alone a man who's willing to commit to something serious in a world full of hookups, low expectations, and emotionless sex.

I am and forever will be a hopeless romantic.
Although, I'd definitely would like to get rid of the hopeless part.

Like many, I want my own love story.

Meet someone and hope they chase me rather than I chase them.
A guy that surprises me with flowers or plans a fun date.
Takes me somewhere I've never been.
Calls me rather than texts me.
Spends a day at the beach with me soaking in the summer sun and enjoys just taking a long walk along the water during sundown.
Loves to watch the stars at night and talk about life.
Stroll Central Park and take in the city lights.
Get to know me on another level than just physical.
Learn about my dreams, goals, and what keeps me up at night.

It all seems too "perfect" and yes, it might be.
But I know it's possible because those ideas wouldn't exist if it wasn't.

I know a lot of us can relate.

It seems atypical. I'm a woman.
I love romance: sappy romance movies, Nicholas Sparks novels, and planning my elaborate cathedral wedding on Pinterest.

Apart from marveling at love stories, day dreaming about my own someday, and binge watching Say Yes to the Dress more than I should, it goes beyond that.

They say when "it's suppose to happen it will" and "what's mean to be will be".
Love, that is.

I don't think it's impossible or delusional to think that one day I'll be like that old couple I described or Donald and Dorothy in the adorable images above.

It all really starts with one word: crush.

Let's be real. Have you ever had a crush on someone? Caught yourself liking someone you didn't expect to like? Have one now?
It's probably one of the best feelings you can have.

You find yourself thinking about them during the day. Somehow their name seems to appear more frequent anywhere you go. You equate them with a love song and every time that baby comes on your face lights up and the Mariah Carey or Michael Bublé in you makes an appearance.

Nevertheless, it's scary to have a crush on someone.
A crush could essentially...crush you. Seems morbid, I know.
Truth hurts sometimes.

I've been there many times. You start thinking about them and maybe you end up having the opportunity to see what could be. Sometimes, it doesn't work out for the best.

He doesn't like you.
You seem too eager to him.
Timing isn't right.
You're too young and in college, it's time to have "fun".
He wants to just be friends but friends who casually act like a couple sometimes.
You want something serious, worthwhile, and something you can call yours, he doesn't.
Doesn't want to have to deal with commitment and a girlfriend.
Someone else broke his heart and hurt your chance to show him that it could be different.

Once you open your heart up to someone and they hurt it in anyway however minute that hurt may be, it's hard to open yourself up again to those feelings. You're scared it will happen all over again and end up being worse off than it was before.

I know my heart turns into a fortress and protects itself stronger than an Army could. I'm terrified to allow that hurt to get in.

But that's the thing.

You have to let your guard down to let love in.

Just have to take a leap of faith and hope that your heart knows who's coming in.

And hopefully, just hopefully, that person will be the one your old, wrinkled hand will be holding as you stroll into a lifetime of crazy, passionate, and beautiful love.
