The Post-Graduation Blues & How To Overcome Them

If you're like me, you just graduated college and realized you have your entire life ahead of you.
If you're also like me, you've had at least a couple of breakdowns this summer, re-evaluated your life plans at least 3 times, and may or may not be living at home following 4 years of absolute delicious freedom.

I always imagined getting a full-time job after college and having my life together within the short span of I don't know how many days following graduation.

Oh how the tides have changed.

This entire summer has been a blast and full of ups and downs. Ups being that I got to wake up whenever I wanted to, enjoy the sunny days, spend time however I wanted to, and really be selective about my job search.

Downs being that most of my friends have jobs and started working full-time, I got my wisdom teeth out (still recovering from this mess), and/or my friends have moved away from home with the exception of like 2.

Going from having every single day of my life in college for the most part planned out to waking up and trying to fill my days while awaiting to hear from different companies has been quite the task.

In addition to that, it's been difficult to write when you feel so uninspired and somewhat unmotivated. Thankfully, I've had my friends, family, and boyfriend to keep me from getting too down on myself.

I realized that I was being wayyyy to hard on myself and I can definitely assume your are being too.

I'm only 22 years old and expect to have my life all together in one day.

You and I must be crazy.

WE ARE SO YOUNG.

Instead of panicking, contemplating getting a job below your pay-grade, having mental breakdowns because things aren't going the way you expected, here are some fun ways to make the most out of this time in your life:

  1. Write down your goals for the year, next 5 years, or more. Having something written down even though it seems impossible right now will at least keep you inspired and motivated to work toward those goals. I made a motivation board and it turned out pretty cute!
  2. Spend time with yourself. Catch up on all the Netflix shows you missed. Work out. Learn something new. Enjoy the time where you can do anything you want!
  3. Read or keep studying something. I've been reading different books and teaching myself new skills on Excel. I've also been on and off studying for the GRE since graduate school is not that far away. Book Recommendation: You are a badass by Jen Sincero. So good.
  4. Spend time with people you care about most and see the best in you when you don't!
  5. Try to figure out what makes you the happiest and what type of life you want to live or job you want to have. The more you know, the better you'll have a chance of acquiring it!

Whatever you do, be kind to yourself. Or eat a donut. Either way...

WE GOT THIS.

Escaping to Europe, Graduating College, and Starting A New Chapter

So how does one start a post after such a long hiatus? After going through such huge transitions in my life, I am nothing more than excited to start blogging again and especially with this new chapter in my life that's beginning!

So let's roundup everything that happened...

I GRADUATED COLLEGE

Subtle, right? How does one sum up the end of a new chapter and the start of a new beginning?

The amount of things that have changed since the last time I’ve given some love to my blog is kind of crazy.

I went from gallivanting in Europe for two weeks, juggling classes and an internship before graduation, going on job interviews that I totally wasn’t a fan of, graduating college, and now living back in my humble abode in New Jersey.

I flew to Europe and traveled on six different planes that took me to London, Germany and Verona. It felt wonderful to get away and finally come to terms with the all the new beginnings in my life and take a break from the craziness that was graduating college.

I visited one of my lovely best friends in London, worked on my senior honors thesis at the British Library, enjoyed being a total tourist, flew to Italy, visited my wonderful host family, and came back to get ready for graduation.

It’s kind of crazy to think how fast college went by but I will save that for another post….all the post-graduation feels.

Being back at home feels totally bittersweet. I feel like I am putting myself back together and getting ready to jump into an entire new chapter of my life. It's scary and exciting. Scary because I don't know what in store in this chapter but exciting because I have a lot of control of what will be in it.

This past year has been full of a lot of ups and downs. I’m ready for an awesome summer and time to focus on what I really want to accomplish now that I spent the last 4 years working on a degree.

I graduated college with honors, went on an unforgettable road trip to Virginia Beach with my girlfriends, and met someone who’s completely changed my life….and it’s only just the beginning.

Congratulations to all of my fellow 2016 graduates….stay tuned for more this summer!

P.S. I can't believe I'm turning 22 in a week....which means I can finally blast 22 like I mean it.

Weekend Adventures in Italy + Thoughts on Senior Year

sneakily posting on Juliette's wall...

This past weekend, I was able to meet up with my darling friend au pairing in Bologna, not that far from me. We enjoyed a beautiful and very hot day in Verona.

Sightseeing at its best -- Piazza Bra, Juliet's wall, the "famous" balcony, Piazza Erbe, and wine of course!

It feels so amazing to be able to explore such wonders on a short bus ride while I'm here.

Apart from enjoying the beautiful weather as of late, my mind has been occupied with the many changes in my life and that including me being a senior in college this year.

It's honestly crazy how fast it went by and it's scary to think about all the changes coming up in my life. Figuring out career choices? Moving out? Paying bills? OMG adulthood.

Like how does one go from not worrying about half of these things and then BOOM all of a sudden it all comes at once.

Am I scared? Totally. I think you'd be crazy if you didn't admit to yourself how much your life will change after college.

I'll be able to live on my own soon. Then soon enough, people I know will being getting engaged, married, and having babies. Let me focus on graduating first and foremost!

I am actually excited to get back to school. Not because of my friends and just the joys of being back at school but for the routine. Work, school, and clubs. And homework. Yes, I may be crazy but I actually miss sitting down writing a paper for a class or reading tons of material.

I haven't been at my college since last Fall and oh will it be fun to get back into the swing of things.

I'll be interning on Wall Street, getting back to working, new Chief Justice of my student government,  budgeting to move out, working my tail off to graduate as the highest in my class.
AHHH RESPONSIBILITIES.

Until then, I will enjoy the months I have left of summer :)

Ciao my loves,

Revisiting My Bucket List

Ciao my loves!

So I am finally getting back to this list (check it out if you haven't!) I made prior to spending 4 months in Italy as a study abroad student. I can't believe the best semester of my life is over and I am graduating this upcoming year. Epic sad-excited-scared-all emotions in one-face. I am absolutely excited to return to school after experiencing more than I will ever again in college within those months.

I was able to visit: Venice, Verona, Positano, Rome, Capri, Pompeii, Nice,  Eze, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Arrecife de Lanzarote, Morocco, Monaco, and London (I'm probably missing a few but many countries and cities!)

I cannot tell you how much I cried when I left Florence and had to head back home. I definitely left a piece of my heart in Italy and it will remain there forever <3

Here are some fun ideas for any of you embarking on the semester of your life in Europe for study abroad or if you need ideas for your next European escapade.

It's Wanderlust: Painting the Town Black and The Florentine Nightlife

If there is one thing that Italians know how to do, it's how to have a good time.
These past few weeks have been nothing but full of great memories and adventurous outings after a long week of classes.

Since Florence is one of the big study abroad hubs for American students in Italy, there is nothing short of Americans...and Italians. I thankfully live close to what has become one of my favorites, The Lion's Fountain. I have met loads of students from other places and schools in addition to a fair share of military men also winding down from their weekly duties. The atmosphere is awesome--classic songs like Sweet Caroline and Drunk In Love that make you want to scream and shout the lyrics (guilty), relatively inexpensive drinks, nice bartenders who take shots with you and your friends (FYI the legal age is 18), and it's flooded with shirts from campuses all over the U.S.

I'll round up all of my favorite places for a night out in Florence in a later post :)

Apart from enjoying my fair share of Irish pubs and hanging at atypical study abroad student atmospheres, every night on the town has been awesome.
My Italian has gotten better and more skilled thanks to having to order drinks, food, and ward off lovely individuals who love American girls LOL.
Karaoke nights, lovely bartenders, great music, dancing on tables, getting into the VIP section with my gals, taking in the city lights, and ending the night..or morning..with delicious Nutella croissants or kebabs. I've managed to memorize how to order a fair share of Nutella croissants in Italian thanks to the angelic pastry bakers who feed us at 2am. Thank you, Florence.

As for my typical attire? Black, black, and more black.
I like to throw on a scarf on a more laid back night but if it's a weekend? I want glitter, statement jewelry, and a smokey eye.

I have yet to spend a whole night in heels and it's on my bucket list. With all these cobblestones...stay tuned for that one.

The weather in Florence changes day to day but stays pretty cool to cold at night. But if you're having a lot a fun, a jacket is totally not necessary.

It's almost a month since I've gotten here and the memories I've made so far I will never forget. I don't want to think about leaving yet but time is going by faster than I imagined already! Summer is around the corner...although for my Nor'easters it feels like an eternal winter at the moment.

Until next time my loves,
