Weekend Adventures in Italy + Thoughts on Senior Year

sneakily posting on Juliette's wall...

This past weekend, I was able to meet up with my darling friend au pairing in Bologna, not that far from me. We enjoyed a beautiful and very hot day in Verona.

Sightseeing at its best -- Piazza Bra, Juliet's wall, the "famous" balcony, Piazza Erbe, and wine of course!

It feels so amazing to be able to explore such wonders on a short bus ride while I'm here.

Apart from enjoying the beautiful weather as of late, my mind has been occupied with the many changes in my life and that including me being a senior in college this year.

It's honestly crazy how fast it went by and it's scary to think about all the changes coming up in my life. Figuring out career choices? Moving out? Paying bills? OMG adulthood.

Like how does one go from not worrying about half of these things and then BOOM all of a sudden it all comes at once.

Am I scared? Totally. I think you'd be crazy if you didn't admit to yourself how much your life will change after college.

I'll be able to live on my own soon. Then soon enough, people I know will being getting engaged, married, and having babies. Let me focus on graduating first and foremost!

I am actually excited to get back to school. Not because of my friends and just the joys of being back at school but for the routine. Work, school, and clubs. And homework. Yes, I may be crazy but I actually miss sitting down writing a paper for a class or reading tons of material.

I haven't been at my college since last Fall and oh will it be fun to get back into the swing of things.

I'll be interning on Wall Street, getting back to working, new Chief Justice of my student government,  budgeting to move out, working my tail off to graduate as the highest in my class.
AHHH RESPONSIBILITIES.

Until then, I will enjoy the months I have left of summer :)

Ciao my loves,

Getting Screamed At By An Italian, A Reunion, and Bologna

Ciao darlings,

As I am writing this, I am sitting at my desk in my new home for the summer and listening to the lovely sounds of birds chirping outside and feeling the sun on my skin from my open window overlooking the countryside.

I am absolutely ecstatic to be here :D

After 12+ hours of traveling, my body is finally back in somewhat of a normal mode. I can wakeup at a decent hour and will start following a more regular schedule this coming week.

So what was I up to my first weekend? Well, I got to see a friend from college who is also living in Italy for the summer! She just recently graduated from my college and is definitely giving me an idea of what post-grad life will be like. What are the chances?!

I hopped on a train to Bologna, a very popular and central Italian city, from my little town and decided to explore the city this Saturday since I had never been to Bologna when I lived in Florence apart from leaving to England from their airport.

For starters, I am living in a small town near Verona and do not have huge stores to get to so I decided to take advantage of going to Bologna, join civilization by getting an Italian number, and not try to live off of Wifi while I'm here.

I went to a Vodafone to buy a SIM card (which was hella cheap for 3GB, 3000 texts, and 1,000 minutes for the month -- 25 Euros..HOLLA), although my phone still hasn't been unlocked thanks to AT&T -_-

So apart from the fact I couldn't understand everything the man at Vodafone was telling me, I apparently didn't take his advice on putting the SIM card in my phone and shutting it off although I asked if I could use my phone while it was activating. And I quote, just imagine a loud Italian accent, "WHY YOU DON'T(A) LISTEN TO ME!". And then I preceded to shut my phone off and thanked him as I laughed out the door.

Apart from getting a SIM card, we explored, chit chatted through the markets, went out for lunch (I FINALLY HAD PIZZA WOO), and walked around until our train rides home.

Asinelli Tower of Bologna
Fun Fact: These towers were distinct to Bologna--considered like the modern day Manhattan of the time

This huge tower was being graciously photobombed by construction.

When I traveled all around Europe the past couple of months, I've collected dozens of photos of windows. I have a slight obsession with taking pictures of windows. Yes, I know that's weird as most would say.  So what is your weird obsession with windows? Well friends, apart from the architecture, it somehow is a "window" to the past.
Get it? Ha Ha.
Ok Kim, continue and stop torturing us with your corny puns.
I also love to see windows that belong to inhabitants. They show their lifestyle in someway. How they live. What they wear. So anywhere I go I always find windows and they end up on my camera roll.

ex. Che figo!

I hope you have a fabulous end of your weekend and do stay tuned for my next post :)

Ciao my loves!

So I am finally getting back to this list (check it out if you haven't!) I made prior to spending 4 months in Italy as a study abroad student. I can't believe the best semester of my life is over and I am graduating this upcoming year. Epic sad-excited-scared-all emotions in one-face. Adventures in Verona

I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Verona and explore the home of Juliet's House and wall of love letters.
Since the hopeless romantic in me as we all know is extreme, I had to visit this beautiful city.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day and pretty hot for a person who decided to go for all black that day.

The sun was shining and the streets were pretty packed with tourists. I managed to visit everything I wanted. My favorite? Juliet's House of course.
According to various sources, "Juliet's House" was owned by a family with the last name Cappello. The last name does not differ greatly from Capulet, as we all know is Juliet's last name. The family saw an opportunity to use this property as a tourist site and thus Juliet's House was created. In addition, any romantic can send a letter to Juliet and receive a response from a committee of "Juliets" as seen in the movie Letters to Juliet. I had every intention of placing mine on the wall like in the movie. Amanda Seyfried and Lizzie McGuire have seriously encouraged too much with their characters and obviously a girly romantic like me.

Kim the Klutz came out unscathed from the steep steps of the Coliseum and cobblestone. I didn't need any other embarrassing moments to occur since that's a daily occurrence for me as it is.

The excerpt from Shakespeare's romantic tragedy was on the wall below the balcony. Thankfully I didn't see anyone reciting this because I probably would have taken a piece of gum from the wall and threw it at them. Girls were already taking up space on the balcony to act as Juliet. Like no.

The wall next to Juliet's statue and balcony is completely covered in gum and various notes from lovers and romantics from all over the world. It is now illegal to stick notes and the sort to this wall because it has damaged the construction of it. If you do have the urge to do so, a nice hefty 500 euro fine will be handed to you. So no go on the sticking a note on the wall. I was absolutely fascinated by the amount of people in that one area. This is one of the most romantic cities in the world for good reason.

The market and clock tower

This Gorgonzola pizza was just..yas. And of course, I had no shame of eating an entire pizza irregardless of who my cute date was. Thankfully, he understands that I have a love affair with pizza and wine ;) Men must understand to never get in the way of my love affair with pizza and wine and they are good in my book or any girl's for that matter.

After this trip to the beautiful city of Verona, I realized two things: people really like touching Juliet's boob (all for good luck) and well, romance really isn't dead after all :)

xoxo,
