Back to Basics | New Hair + Summer Slim Down Series

Although it's summer and most gals like to lighten up their hair, it's time for me to head back to the dark side....being a brunette that is ;D

My hair needed some major TLC after surviving a lot of sun and highlighting with only more to come. I darkened my hair a bit but still have those blonde highlights perfect for summer!

Now that I am back at home, I am in MAJOR need of focusing on working out and getting my body back in shape for the summer.

Do you ever feel like you just completely lost touch with your routine or body? That's how I feel at the moment and definitely gained a few pounds after eating my way through Europe.

Thankfully, I am more motivated than ever to work off those pounds :D

As of late, I have started getting back into the gym and will be reviewing Skinny Teatox and see if it matches up to all its de-bloating and cleansing glory!

Are you ready for my Summer Slim Down Series?

Fall Into Style: Armed & Totally Readi

Here's my first post from my new series I'd like to call Fall Into Style...

Are you totally readi for my latest news?

I am excited to announce that I am a new Brand Ambassador for a fabulous jewelry and accessories  company called Armed & Readi!

They have absolutely adorable bracelets, rings, gorgeous statement necklaces and more.

Make sure to check out their cute site and see all the amazing pieces.

Onto a lovely OOTD featuring my Armed & Readi arm candy of the day...

MK watch, 3 Alex and Ani Bangles, 2 Armed and Readi Bracelets

I am so obsessed with this white bangle and jewel bracelet. They totally complimented my per usual A & A bangles and MK watch.

I woke up in the morning just totally feeling fall-esque, and I wanted my style choices for the day to reflect that. I love this cardigan by Brooks Brothers and especially that the rich, deep violet/magenta/some variation of purple color. I added a belt to cinch my waist. A great add on and tip for curvy girls everywhere!
Although it got so much warmer later in the day and I was dying of heat on my way to class, it was totally worth wearing.

Shoes: Just Fab ankle booties

Kate Spade Wallet

Brandy Melville leggings

As a girl with a big derrière, it's difficult and nearly impossible to find a pair of affordable and underwear hiding leggings. Brandy Melville is now my go-to for these babies. I'm absolutely addicted to these leggings and I will definitely be picking up more.

And as always here is a totally candid Kim moment.

Keep Calm and Fall on <3

A Gal's Guide: Savings, Savings, and Savings

Welcome to a lovely series of posts and topics for all of us ambitious gals.

I have a knack for saving just about everything: receipts, shopping bags, memories, and grudges (just kidding!). But really, I can save just about everything except well...money.

I am a thrifty shopper and don't believe in buying full price if not necessary. That mentality, however, cannot be the only thing I do to save money.

If I plan on having a Pinterest worthy wedding, my own home, and financing a doctorate,
I think having the money to do so will be an important factor.

I've been working since I was just about 16, and if I had implemented a savings plan starting then, I probably would be rolling in dough.
More like cookie dough but who cares I like both.

A girl could change or start something new at any given time in her life and that goes for implementing a savings plan as well!

Kimmy's Tip:

Make a savings plan and do your research

Piggy banks. Savings accounts. Brokerage accounts. Investing.

Make your $$ grow!

I found some amazing savings plans and created one that I will be using starting this week.
I will be sharing the experience as I go along and suggest you totally do the same!

I found some amazing savings challenges on various blogs.
Starting small is the best way to begin saving, and you will feel absolutely accomplished knowing that you have started saving your hard earned money.

I'd like to save a lot more money within the same span of time so I created my own spreadsheet that mimics the same savings pattern as this one.

Kimmy's 52 Week Challenge

I will be using other ways to save money but I think this is a great start for anyone who needs to jump back on the savings wagon.

Let the savings begin....

It's Wanderlust: Preparing for Firenze

 Firenze

a city in western central Italy, the capital of Tuscany, on the Arno River; pop. 365,659 (2008). Florence was a leading center of the Italian Renaissance, esp. under the rule of the Medici family during the 15th century. Italian name Firenze.

The countdown has been in my head since the day I learned Study Abroad was a possibility.

My upcoming study abroad trip has so much in store and I am absolutely euphoric about it.

I'm hoping for a total Eat. Pray. Love. moment. A time to explore and find myself.

PIZZA. Cobblestone streets. Mopeds. Gelato. Cute cafés. Street markets. Beautiful and intricate architecture. Mountains of spaghetti. Italian boys. Wine. More wine. Did I mention wine?

Florence seems like the perfect fit for me.

I'll be able to take my core Business classes and thankfully stay on track for an early graduation.
I can also take fashion courses. Fashion courses in Europe? Um, yes! Totally heaven sent.

If you're thinking of studying abroad, I would definitely look into the different programs at your school. I also suggest you think of where you would like to be living for a good 4 months of your life.
As I hear, it will be the experience of a lifetime. Choose wisely!

Are you studying abroad soon and don't know where to start?
Peep my latest and tentative list of to do's!

  1. Research! What are the closest airports? What's the weather like in the Spring? Where will I be living? Where can I go to study for my exam? What are must-do's in the city? I want to know everything possible so I don't miss any pertinent information. All these questions can be answered by looking at articles and reading travel logs from other study abroad students.
  2. Coordinate your classes! Apart from marveling at my surroundings, I am there to study abroad. Thus, my classes are the important above all. Although I am a French minor, I chose Italy. I made sure to meet with my advisor and look over the course catalog of my school abroad and coordinate with my graduation requirements. I have room for some fun electives which I'm totally pumped for. Italy has the perfect combo of Business classes and fashion courses that I want to take full advantage of. Why not learn Italian as well? Make sure to pick a school that fits your interests and major requirements.
  3. Apply! This obviously needs to come first once you have chosen the locale. Go through all the necessary steps and applications so that you can have an acceptance letter in your hand. You will definitely need this to apply for a student visa in Italy.
  4. Visa! No, I am not talking about my CC. In order to study abroad, you need to have the documents to do so. After your application has been processed, your school abroad should send you a lovely acceptance letter that will allow you to go to the nearest consulate and apply for a student visa. I'm most excited about this step since it will make it basically official!
  5. Flights! After I have my visa and acceptance letter in my hand, this will be next. I have yet to decide if I shall stay in Europe for a bit after the semester but irregardless I have to get a great deal on flights. I will be paying the hefty ticket so I will plan on getting a great deal. I hear Tuesdays around 4pm and a month before your departure are the best days to buy flights.
  6. Packing List! I definitely need to make a thorough and organized packing list for this trip. I have a lot of clothing and shoes and a need to have them with me at all times. Since I am packing my life for those months in just a suitcase, I need to regroup. Converters. School supplies. Toiletries. Makeup. I know some things will need to be purchased in Italy but I will bring all that I can to avoid paying for items I do not need to.
  7. Cell Phones and Bank Accounts! Clearly, I need some way to communicate while I'm there and to stay in contact with my family and friends abroad. Also, I need to take into account that I will be using Euros and not American dollars. I am a thrifty gal so I will make sure to figure out the best options to avoid paying crazy transaction fees and insane cell phone charges. So, I may be picking up an Italian cell phone and opening a bank account that will work fee-less while I'm there.
  8. A Bucket List! Apart from studying and immersing myself in culture, I want to travel and explore as much as possible. My weekends will be spent in different countries or exploring new places in Italy. A bucket list will not only serve as a guide of to do's but also help me accomplish all my travel aspirations.
Stay tuned for a break down of my to do's and anymore that may be added.
Until then, Ciao.

It's Wanderlust: The Lone Star State

wanderlust |ˈwändərˌləst| nouna strong desire to travel: a man consumed by wanderlust.ORIGIN early 20th cent.: from German Wanderlust .

Welcome to a series of posts I'd like to call, "It's Wanderlust". I  love the spin on the word "wonderful" and tied it with one of my absolute favorite words (and don't forget to add that beautiful German accent when you say it).
I have a passion for exploring new places and trying new things. Traveling is all of that and more. I am making it my mission to travel every place imaginable. The world is meant to be explored and that is exactly what I plan to do.

Prepare for what will be copious travel posts, adventures, and more since I plan on taking Italy by storm for my Spring semester.

I like to day dream and picture myself hopping off the plane with On an Evening in Roma playing in the background
(Lizzie McGuire style).

Sigh. January will be here soon enough.

But first, let's talk about Texas y'all.

I got the opportunity to visit the Lone Star State with my momma for a couple of days and boy oh boy was it interesting.

I'm grateful to be able to travel and visit different states. We have hidden gems in the country and I definitely want to be able to see as much as I can.

Texas.

All I could think of on that plane was Tex-Mex and hot weather. I was right about both.

I had the awesome opportunity to detail my voyage on my lovely new big sis/mentor Stephanie's amazing blog called Let's Talk Twenties.

Take a peek at my amazing time in Texas in the link below and what I like to call my Texan Invasion <3

Until next time, ciao my loves.
