Can it be summer like now? </3 |
How does one stay fit studying abroad? And studying abroad in a country known for its pizza, wine, cheese, bread...just about everything delicious?
Summer is approaching very soon although it feels like an endless winter.
I thankfully have been dedicating my time to working out and eating healthy while of course indulging while in Italy.
My Current Workout Routine
Running: 20 to 30 minutes
5 minute warm up, light jogging, and then interval sprinting
*I've read that short bursts of sprinting are better than running for the entire time you are on the treadmill*
Yay, for cardio! JK, I don't like it but it helps keeps my legs strong and burn fat.
Weights/Squats
15 to 20 minutes
I am horrible at doing reps and sets. I just count and increase overtime.
I am currently squatting with 20lbs. Hopefully by the time I leave I'll be able to push myself to 50.
I like to do a round of regular squats, pliƩ squats (great for your inner thighs), and curtsy squats.
I want a butt and body like Nicole Mejia or Yovanna Ventura. Look them up on Instagram. I. Love. Them.
Abs/Arms/Leg Workouts/Stretching
10 to 15 minutes
I use Pinterest for Ab workouts. If you need some ab moves or challenges, follow my board here!
My target area? Lower abs and those darn bra bulges.
I normally do a machine or two for arms. I mostly get my arm workout from swimming but since I have no pool, I must succumb to a machine. Le sigh.I am trying to follow a more rounded routine and learn to utilize reps and better workout methods to tone up and slim down a bit more. Results will follow soon!
Healthy Smoothie Recipes
As of late, I have been trying to incorporate more protein in my diet and also properly fuel and feed my body so that 1) I don't overeat like I love to and 2) incorporate more fruits and veggies. If you're trying to do the same, here are some great recipes!
Here are two of my favorite concoctions!
Just throw these items in a blender, enough for a good cup.
Easy, quick, and super yummy!
Banana Peanut Butter Madness
Vanilla Almond Milk
Banana
1 spoon of peanut butter
Vanilla protein powder (you could do without this. I have yet to find a brand to use religiously)
Ice
A handful of spinach (I promise, you won't taste a thing!)
Berry Awesome
Vanilla Almond Milk
Assortment of frozen berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, etc.)
A handful of spinach
Ice
Vanilla protein powder (Also, could do without)
2 spoons of Honey
Blend and enjoy!
