2 weeks and counting.
I'm going to wake up (most likely sleep deprived from my excitement) and prepare for the 7+ hour flight and layovers awaiting me before I reach my final destination.
I am scared, excited, nervous, in shock, and pretty much every emotion tied all together. I will be leaving everything I know for over 4 months. Communication will be distant. Everyone I know will be far away. I have no idea what I will be coming back to once I'm gone.
I'm pretty much hopping on a plane without a clue about this country apart from:
Vespas. Excessive hand gestures. Gelato. European nightlife. Cathedrals. Pasta. Wine. Wine. Did I mention wine?
How will I make the best of this new adventure?
Only by creating the most exciting bucket list imaginable.
Pronti, partenza, via!
My European Bucket List
- Eat gelato for the first time (yes, I've never had gelato like how is that possible)
- Hike and view the beautiful city of Florence from above
- Visit every museum in Florence
- Cappuccino it up at a local cafe
- Attempt to wear heels on cobblestone and capture a picture of it (this is apparently a very big feat)
- Have a totally Lizzie McGuire moment and ride a vespa
- Eat a pastry the size of my face with no shame from a delicious bakery in Florence
- Go to Greece
- Visit my relatives in Barcelona
- Have a fabulous night out including partying at a European night club
- Go to Paris
- Visit Versailles and take a selfie in the Hall of Mirrors
- You can't go to Venice without going on a gondola ride. Must do.
- Have an adventurous Spring Break somewhere warm and bikini-friendly
- Visit the South of France
- Eat an entire pizza without any shame
- Visit the Eiffel Tower at night
- Take a trip to Laudarée
- Invade England (pun intended)
- Take a totally cliché pic with the Tower of Pisa
- Go to a beach (Spain, Greece, Portugal? So many options..)
- Go to a soccer game
- Go to the red light district
- Leave a love note in Juliet's wall in Verona (the hopeless romantic in me will never die)
- Visit platform 9 3/4 in London like how can I not
- Go inside a red telephone booth in London
- Make some fabulous new friends
- Make a wish at the Trevi Fountain
- Visit Vatican City
- Cliff dive off the Almafi Coast
- Take a totally Beatles-esque picture while visiting England
- Visit the Coliseum
- Go to an aperitivo (buy a cocktail and eat endless appetizers? A budgeting student's dream)
- Go an entire day speaking Italian
- Learn something new
- Rent a bike and get completely lost
- Pose with a guard at Buckingham Palace (bonus points if I make him laugh)
....and as for the rest, I'll leave it to the magic of spontaneity and serendipity.
Ciao,
