Welcome to a lovely series of posts and topics geared toward all of us ambitious gals.
Do you hope to one day have a fabulous apartment, closet full of Carrie Bradshaw approved stilettos, save up for a Pinterest worthy wedding, a new car, buy your first house, or go an adventurous getaway?
We'll get to the saving money part in my next post.
If you're like me, you've probably had a job since you were 16 or sometime before college.
Also if you're like me, you probably like to shop, save on occasion, and by now, could be sitting on a pile of cash and investments but chose to spend it on clothing, makeup, and a JustFab subscription.
I love shoes but they will not pay for all my moving out costs and the apartment I plan on living in come next summer.
If you know someone that offers rent payments in shoes, help a homegirl out. I've got plenty!
Until then, I shall spend my time making money rather than accruing more shoes.
Kimmy's Tip:
Get a job or start your own business
When I'm at home, I stay busy with a part-time job: babysitting, petsitting, and/or working at a Fro-Yo shop.
At school, I was able to secure an on-campus job that helps me pay for my necessities.
Now that graduation is approaching, my study abroad trip, and starting to look for apartments, I've started to look for more opportunities to increase my bank account.
If you are in college, you have a flexible schedule, can take some hours in a day to make some extra cash to pay for your social life, and save up money to pay your way after you finish up these years away at school.
Before you start the hunt, make sure to have a great resumé or create one!
Remember to keep in mind your career path and interests.
What would look best on your resumé in the future?
Need some job ideas?
- On-campus jobs: You can fit in school work and make some cash while you are getting an education. ex: tutor, tour guide, desk sitter, RA etc.
- Off-campus jobs: You might be able to get more hours and moolah although the hours may not be desirable. ex: lifeguarding, babysitting, dog sitting, bar tending, waitressing, retail job, office assistant, bank teller, barista, personal shopper, brand ambassador, paid internship etc.
